    Gill Smitherman was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, was educated at The Lawrenceville School, Rice University and the
    School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He resides in the Bywater neighborhood in New Orleans.
    Smitherman (b. 1948) is associated with graphic artist Robert Crumb and his work “Yellow Dog # 13 / 14” is collected by the National Gallery of Art.
