    Description

Original signed sketch on mat board by Murry N. DePillars.
This is an exceedingly rare sketch by the late artist and Dean of the Art School at Virginia Commonwealth University.   Among other places, his work has been shown at the Whitney Museum of American Art; The Studio Museum of Harlem; The Mississippi Museum of Art; The Orlando Museum of Art; The Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago; the World Expo in Spokane; the Fay Gold Gallery in Atlanta; and the Joysmith Gallery & Studio in Memphis.
This early work, done in ink on Crescent mat board, reflects DePillars’ clean, continuous stroke and his love of jazz. Clearly a one-of-a-kind!
