Description
Dual Mega-fan cooling system with 12 volt trigger control, gigantic Air-chamber base & multi-speed fan controlThis dual-120mm fan unit is designed sit on your component's top air vents, and to add cooling to AV receivers, amps, satellite receivers and other electronic components.
It has a special raised air-chamber base, which covers 145
square inches (14.5" x 10") of your component's top vents
.
The cooling system includes a 12v trigger module, which turns the fans on, when controlled by your component's 12 volt trigger system.
This system pulls a large amount of air from your receiver, at very low fan speeds, and it is super quiet. Air is removed from your component over the full area of the huge raised air-chamber base, creating a vortex of cooling air inside your receiver, while pulling air up from the bottom vents.
ABOUT 12v (12 volt) TRIGGERS:
Many modern receivers have this feature, which turns other components or accessories on and off automatically. It usually consists of a socket (sometimes more than one) on the back of the receiver, into which you plug your 12v control cable . Normally, when the receiver is on, this cable provides a 12 volt signal to the other component, which tells it to be "On". When the receiver is off, the 12 volt signal stops, and the other component goes "Off". Some receivers have a different 12v setup, which allows you to program the operation of the 12v outlet.
IMPORTANT:
My 12v trigger module will turn the fan on and off automatically, whenever 12 volts is applied to the control cable. When the 12 volts turns off, the fan stops.
Please check your receiver's operation manual, to confirm that your system can provide this 12 volt signal whenever you want the fan to run.
Note:
Your receiver only supplies a tiny trickle of power, which activates the trigger module. This protects your receiver's circuitry, which is not designed to power a fan. Instead, my 12v trigger module controls the power from the multi-voltage transformer (included with the cooling system), which runs the fans.
FEATURES:
The two 120mm fans are extremely quiet and long-lasting, because of their fluid dynamic bearings.
The system includes a 12v trigger module, which turns the fan on and off, via the 12v trigger socket on your receiver (see note above about operation). The 12v trigger module comes with a cable which has a 3.5mm (1/8") plug on the end -- the standard for most systems. The standard cable length from the trigger plug to the fan is 5-1/2'. If you need a longer cable, please let me know. If you need a 2.5mm trigger plug adapter, I can provide one for a small charge.
Also included is a multi-voltage transformer. You can control the speed of the fan, using this multi-speed transformer.
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS:
The unit's power transformer (supplied with the cooling system), can be switched to either 110/120 volt or 220/240 volt operation. However, the transformer uses the standard US-style 2-prong plug. UK/European/Australian/New Zealand buyers: I may have an adapter for your sockets. Contact me if you need the adapter to fit your local sockets (there is no charge for the adapters).
The fan unit has a specially-constructed raised air-chamber base that enlarges the area of airflow, while also sealing air and preventing vibrations.
This base covers over 145 square inches.
Don't worry if your air vents are smaller than the air-chamber base -- it is designed to adapt to any size vents.
The fan unit is 1-1/2" tall, including the top grill and air-chamber base, and only requires 3/8" of space above for air flow. The base is 14.5" x 10" square. Please make sure that the top of your component has a flat area on top that is at least 14.5" x 10".
Don't worry if your air vents are smaller (or larger) than the air-chamber base -- it is designed to adapt to any size vents.
The fan unit connects to the transformer via a 4'-long cable, ending in a heavy-duty Molex quick-connect plug, which allows the fans and transformer to be separated for easy wire-routing.
This powerful component-top fan system, even when running at 1/3 to 1/2 speed (recommended), will replace a volume of air equal to that of most electronic components
at least 40 times per minute (once every 1.5 seconds!)
.
All you have to do is to place the fan unit on top of your receiver, and plug in the transformer -- that's all there is to it.
