    EXCEPTIONAL, VERY RARE, AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, HISTORIC, ANTIQUE, 1859, OFFICIAL "UNITED STATES PACIFIC RAILROAD EXPEDITION AND SURVEYS" HAND COLORED LITHOGRAPH / PLATE ("Birds - Plate VII"), SHOWING A YOUNG CALIFORNIA GREBE (Podiceps Californicus) AS DRAWN ON SITE DURING THE EXPEDITIONS OF 1854 THROUGH 1856, as shown - - - FRAMED IN AN AUTHENTIC ANTIQUE HIGH QUALITY, SOLID WOOD FRAME, MATTED, UNDER GLASS, AND READY TO HANG, as shown! Marked at upper left corner "U.S.P.R.R. Exp. & Surveys - California", AND marked at upper right corner "Birds - Plate VII", as shown (SEE close-up images)! DURING THE PERIOD OF 1854 THROUGH 1856 the United States Military, accompanied by scouts, frontiersmen, railroad engineers, land surveyors, Indian agents, horticulturalists, ARTISTS, and many others, conducted a series of Expeditions and Surveys to determine the most viable routes for a Transcontinental Railroad - And in 1859 their exhaustive "Report of Explorations and Surveys", including a multitude of supporting documents - OF WHICH THIS PLATE WAS ONE OF THOSE SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS - was submitted to the U.S. Congress!
