Description
A striking pastel portrait showing a young woman in distress. The portrait seems to take inspiration from Caravaggio's "Gorgon," shown in the facial expression. The artist has captured a great deal of emotion in this portrait.
The picture is unsigned and presented in a fine, glazed, gilt effect frame with floral strapwork.
On wove.
Condition
The drawing has a large water damage mark over the left edge that spreads across the top left corner and upper edge. There is some foxing to the surface and discolouration. There are several white marks to the top third of the drawing. The frame has a loss to the top left corner and a crack to the top edge. There are two pin holes in the frame at the middle of both side edges. There is general scuffing to the frame surface.

All our artworks are packaged to a very high standard, using protective cellophane wallets, hardboard backing, and bubble wrap. Framed pictures are packed into custom made cartons. Some works on paper are shipped in extra-thick postage tubes when this is the safest method of transport.
Glass is usually removed from frames prior to shipping as despite our best effort, carriers manage to break the glass and often the broken glass damages the artwork.
