    Expert commentary:
Influenced by Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau, Jules Pascin, Claude Venard and Bernard Buffet, the artist can be described as Post-cubist and expressionist. Michel De Alvis excels in still life but he is also very talented in nudes. Passionate about travel (France, Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Turkey…) he gives us in his works these fabulous Mediterranean landscapes that he loves so much. The artist uses all the techniques and varies the supports to better put them at the service of the subject. His thick line, which sometimes tends to slightly distort reality, especially in his still lifes and nudes, gives an impression of movement and provokes an emotional reaction in the viewer. The use of pure colors and their juxtaposition reinforce these effects and give a life of their own to the elements composing the work.

“Paris my city, my beautiful city, eternal and yet so changing and disturbing but never disappointing to which I always come back despite the beauties discovered elsewhere. Paris, my beautiful love, that I have traveled from North to South, from East to West, from the top of its towers to its little courtyards, Paris which pulsates and which beats, Paris do you feel my heart beating in the 'unison?
