Graphite Pencil Drawing Arnold Short Bull 1845-1915
    by G.V.G. Dec. 02, 1903
Arnold Short Bull's native name was Tatanka Ptiella.
The following information is referenced from the Akta Lakota Museum.
"Short Bull, was a member of the
    Sičaηgu
(Brulé) Lakota tribe of Native Americans and was born in about 1845.
He was active in the Ghost Dance religious movement of 1890, and had traveled with fellow Lakota
Kicking Bear to visit the movement's leader, Wovoka. The two were instrumental in bringing the movement to the
Lakota living on reservations in South Dakota. Following the murder of Sitting Bull,
    Short Bull was imprisoned at
Fort Sheridan, Illinois. On his release in 1891, Short Bull joined Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show, and
made several trips to Europe with the show. Short Bull died in 1915 on the Rosebud Indian Reservation
    in South Dakota."
There is after a photograph from 1900
    by the famous photographer
    Herman Heyn which
    this is
    drawn from (not on)
This is an original 1 of 1 graphite drawing on heavy stock
paper.   It comes in the original vintage wood frame with glass.
The overall framed piece measures 18" x 21".
The drawing out of frame measures 9-3/4" x 12-1/2"
The last photo shows a very small taped repair to the bottom.
Whomever G.V.G. was, they had an excellent eye to bring out the
    light on the subjects face.
