S.S. GREAT BRITAIN
was launched in 1843 in Bristol, England, and was the largest and most powerful passenger steamship of her day.  She operated on the Bristol to New York transatlantic route for the Great Western Steamship Company, completing the voyage in 14 days.
From 1852, she was employed as an emigrant ship to Australia, and converted to all-sail in 1886. She was salvaged from the Falkland Islands in 1970, repaired and restored, and currently serves as a Museum and Visitor attraction in Bristol Harbour.

R.M.S. MAURETANIA (1910-1935)
was the world's largest ship until the launch of the White Star Liner,
R.M.S. OLYMPIC,
in 1910. At one time, she held the Blue Riband for the fastest Atlantic crossing.
