    Description

For sale is this interesting sheet, showing various scetches, dating back to the mid 18th century.
The drawing, executed in charcoal on laid paper (a 17th century engraving on the other side), depicts six scetches, most likely related to the same subject.
The scetch right below is the most "readable" one, showing a romantic scene with a nymph and a sathyr.  The other scetches seem to be variations on the same theme.
This sheet, without any doubt, was a first prepatory study for a painting, depicting a mythological subject (popular during the French Rococo period).
Authorship : the drawing is from the French School, not easy to attribute.  But, further research could lead to a match with the name of an artist.
    Period : ca. 1750.
    Size : 31,21,7cm.
Condition : Fairly good.  Some scattered dirt throughout.  Oil spots.  A fold right vertical.  Corners : traces of folding.  Bottom side : traces of a paper mat.  Top side : traces of wrinkling.  Unframed.
Shipping : flat shippingrate 18$.  Shipped as International Registered Mail (with trackingn°).  Combined shipping available.
Important : I will be leaving back to France on Thursday the 15th of July.  First, I'll picking up in and near Paris and will visit a friend who kept some drawings aside for me.  From Paris, I'll be driving to the Fontainebleau region, where a good collection of old master drawings will be presented to me.  After this visit (and as I hope succesfull negociations), we will continue to the South of France, where I will carry on working on ebay, in combination with some local markets.  Partualy, during this period, I will take a holliday break as well (our family will be over as well at that moment).  I will be back in Belgium on the 6th of August and have to ask you to be patient regarding shipping.  It might not be possible to make a short tript back to Belgium for shipments, because of the negative evoluation of the covid situation in Europe (travel restrictions and quarentine could limit travelling by plain or high speed train).
I will keep you informed about the evolution on the field and will be restarting shipments (in the worse case scenario) on the 7th of August.
Thanks all of you for your continious support and understanding.
