Description
A very odd relic of the hippie era--a print of two naked nymphs walking hand in hand into the woods surrounded by butterflies and flowers. ENTER NAKED HEREIN. About 15 x 10 inches. Laid down on an old piece of Bristol board. Said to have come out of the old hippie saloon/emporium POSITIVELY FRONT STREET in Santa Cruz, California in the 1960s. Artist unknown.Has some toning but in generally very good condition, as shown.
In the Clint Eastwood film SUDDEN IMPACT,
After arriving in "San Paulo", Callahan got into a brawl with Ray Parkins, in a "scuzzy" bar. The bar was actually "Positively Front Street", located near the Santa Cruz pier, around the corner from the La Bahia Hotel.
------
The original location of
Positively Front Street
at 44 Front Street was completely destroyed by arson back in December 23, 2000. There was another fire several years before that did some damage to that same building. Inside, there was a scale model train on a ledge that ran above the dining area. The historic build, built in 1907, had an interesting past. It was formerly the Palace Hotel, then it was a brothel, and then a wax museum, prior to being restaurant.
This may have been among the original furnishings retained in the saloon/restaurant era. Or perhaps created in the 1960s.
