    Description

This is an old German Biller-Bahn Wind-Up Tin Train Set.  It's about the same size as an HO type gauge.  It is stamped "Made in Western Germany" and runs good when wound up.  It comes with an engine (5" long), passenger car (5 1/2" long), baggage car
(5 1/2" long), track (53 curved, 8 straight, 4 track changers) and metal key to wind it up.  The track slides together and into each other on the ends and is about 3/4" in width and has real wood ties.   The engine is made of hard plastic with metal wheels and the cars are made of tin and also have metal wheels.  The engine has some scratches on the sides and on the roof.  The roof also has some wear and the tip of the smoke stack seems melted or something (see last picture).  The cars have some scratches and the passenger car has a dent on the roof, please see pictures (the third from last picture, the big shiny spot is where the dent is, it was kind of hard to show through in the pictures).  The baggage car has a sliding door on each side that slides open and closed.  The baggage car also has a coupler on one side that is broken, it can't latch onto the next car on that side (see next to last picture) but the other side is fine, which is fine if he's the end car.  The key to wind it up is old and rusted, but still works fine.  After the engine is wound up, there's a push bottom of top of the engine that you push and it goes around the track and runs for a while, probably a whole minute, and then comes to a gradual stop.  There's a switch on the roof of the engine that I thought would make it run in reverse, but it didn't appear to do anything, so I'm not entirely sure what the switch is for, or maybe it's just not working properly.  There's plenty of track to design many different layouts.  Unfortunately it doesn't come with its original box but will be well packed for shipping.

This was part of my father's vast and cherished railroad collection.  They have been stored in a well ventilated, moisture controlled, smoke-free environment for many years. Since a lot of them may not have been run for many years, I would recommend proper lubrication followed by a break-in period for optimum performance. You may notice some dust and dirt, I will leave the cleaning of these items up to the discretion of the new owner.
Even though my dad was an avid collector, my knowledge of model railroading is limited.
I do my best to test, accurately represent and describe
