Amazing 1930's Fashion Sketches
Fascinating lot of 18 Vintage Fashion Sketches
Pencil and Watercolor Drawings
Drawn on 9 " by 6 " pages ( 2 have been trimmed )
Several of the drawings have been done on cardboard and attached to the page.
Subjects include
Swimwear, Hats, Pajamas, Gym Suit, Dress Coat, Sports, Evening, Morning Outfits, Lingerie and Negligees, Evening Gowns, Golf and Tennis, Easter Styles, Hats, Latest Fall Styles, Aviation Outfit, Riding Outfit etc
There are notations on the back of one page. (see photo) Haven't been able to trace the origin of these sketches but I believe they may be concept designs for the Robert Simpson Company. Reads in part Summer Clearance
One of the nicest is titled " April Showers 1932 " Likely all date from the same project.
Condition
The majority of the condition issues (though not all) involve the edges. I have held off trimming the sketches so that the new owner may decide how they would like to do it. I believe that the sketches would look fantastic mounted and framed and would be of great interest to anyone interested in fashions of the 1930's.
There are some small tears to the edges and corners. Some foxing and numerous other marks both back and front. Used a soft eraser on a few spots and some came off while others only faded. Don't want to risk damaging the sketches and will leave it to the new owner to decide if they wish to have them cleaned by a professional.
